Employment Outlook
The good news...
-Demand for grant-writers is increasing, and the position survived the poor economy of the past five years. -Salaries in the grant-writing business increase significantly as you gain experience. - The poor economy means that non-profits rely even more heavily on federal funds for support, creating a high demand for competent grant writers. |
The bad news...
- Money is tight these days, and there are less grants being offered, even though the same number of non-profits are applying. This can hurt wages, and a grant writer may be the first to get cut. - Non-profit grant writers are making less than independent grant-writers who don't have bosses, imposed deadlines, or office drama. |
According to a Nonprofit Finance Fund of 4,500 respondents from non-profits in the United States, demand for services from nonprofits are increasing, along with the need for grant writers to help create and draft proposals.
